GROWING TIPS
Pinto Bean plants don't transplant well so direct sow in fertile, moist, well-drained soil in full sun after the soil has warmed about 60 degrees. These are bush beans so trellising isn't required. If your soil lacks nutrients, add compost or organic matter to the soil before planting. Water regularly to keep soil moist; but not damp. Pick at 50-60 days for tender, green pods that taste great fresh; or, for traditional dried bean usage, pick at 90-110 days when the light brown flecked Pinto Beans begin to rattle in their dried pods.
Crop Rotation & Plant Companions: To maintain healthy soil, rotate your bean planting location each year. Planting corn, beans and squash together thends to lead to more bountiful harvests for all three.
