GROWING TIPS
In the spring, after the soil has warmed above 60 degrees, create mounds about 8 inches tall and sow 6-8 seeds in each. Trellising isn't required; but it helps maximize space. Without trellises space rows 4-5 feet apart. With trellising reduce spacing to 3-4 feet. Cucumbers love heat, sun and rich soil so ensure soil is warm and plant in full sun if possible. Water regularly to keep soil moist. Harvest mature cucumbers, by cutting at the stem, to encourage new fruit production. If they go yellow on the vine they'll be bitter.
Benefits of Trellising: When growing cucumber vines a trellis will encourage the vines to climb, which helps protect the fruit from damage, and help maximize space in smaller gardens.
Ther Perfect Pickler: Pick when they're under 5 inches if you're planning to pickle. If you're eating fresh let them grow slightly larger; but make sure they don't turn yellow and bitter. Pick early in the morning and refrigerate for the best flavor.
